Job Descriptions
National Transport PLC, a logistics and transportation company in Ethiopia, which is a leader in its field, is looking for 100 skilled and reliable heavy truck drivers to join our fleet operations that are expanding in Dire Dawa and Lemi.
Experienced drivers who prioritize safety, punctuality, and professionalism in freight transport would excel in this full-time, on-site role.
Key Responsibilities
- Confidently run heavy-duty trucks to deliver goods between distribution centers, warehouses, and customer locations.
- Carry out vehicle inspections before and after the trip to be sure that they are mechanically safe and meet the requirements.
- Load, secure, and unload cargo in accordance with the safety standards of both the company and the government.
- Keep logs of deliveries, routes, fuel usage, and vehicle condition that are up to date.
- Inform dispatch/supervisor of any vehicle defects, accidents, or delays without delay.
- Respect all national traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Be in direct contact with logistics and warehouse teams to achieve efficient deliveries on time.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Minimum of 8th-grade completion
- Driving License: Valid Class 5 (Dry 3) or Class 3 (Dry 5) license—must be current and in good standing
- Experience: At least 2 years of service as a heavy truck driver
- Age: Drivers who satisfy the legal age requirements for driving
- Physical Fitness: The ability to perform, without being fatigued, physically challenging tasks such as loading and unloading goods as well as driving for a long time.
- Integrity: No incidence of drinking and driving, a clean record, and no registration of being involved in traffic accidents, as well as being free from substance abuse and traffic violations.
Desired Qualities
- A strong sense of responsibility and good time management skills
- The best knowledge of driving safety and traffic rules
- Being familiar with the routes in the Dire Dawa, Harar, Lemi, and Addis Ababa corridors
- The capability of working in difficult weather and road conditions
- Being a team player and having good communication skills
