The Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has launched applications for the Czech Government Scholarships Programme for Developing Countries for the 2026/2027 academic year. 

Ethiopian scholars can now apply for fully funded Master’s and PhD courses at the leading universities in the Czech Republic.

The programme is a flagship of the Czech Republic’s aid partnership with Ethiopia, which is at the top of the list of the countries with which the Czech Republic has the most extensive development cooperation. The program has been running without interruptions since 2017.

🎯 About the Czech Government Scholarship

The Government Scholarship Program is aimed at students who come from poor countries and want to continue their studies (Master’s or PhD) at accredited Czech universities. The program is designed to build relationships between the Czech Republic and core countries such as Ethiopia, to provide assistance in the formation of human capacities, and to create long-term academic partnerships.

💰 What Does the Scholarship Cover? 

This is an opportunity that is fully funded, which includes:

✅ Full tuition fee waiver

✅ Monthly stipend (amount varies by study level): - Master’s students: ~CZK 14,000/month (~USD 600) - PhD students: ~CZK 19,000/month (~USD 820)

✅ Health insurance coverage

✅ Visa support and pre-departure orientation

✅ Access to university facilities and student services

Note: The travel costs to/from the Czech Republic are not included in the scholarship; however, only limited travel grants may be granted in very special cases.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be able to apply for the Czech Government Scholarship 2026/2027, the individuals who submit their applications must:

• Be citizens of Ethiopia
• Have a bachelor’s degree or higher (for Master’s applicants)
• Have a Master’s degree (for PhD applicants)
• Apply for a full-time, follow-up study program taught in English
• You haven’t pursued any studies in the Czech Republic under this scholarship.
• Be free to start

• The application process is entirely online.

• Sign Up and then complete the electronic form in English.
• Submit Documents: Copy of your Bachelor’s or Master’s diploma (and transcript) in electronic form.
• CV in English
• Letter of motivation (state your academic aims and give examples how your studies will be of help to Ethiopia) 
• Certificate of English (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL, or medium-of-instruction letter) 
• Two letters of recommendations from educationalist (optional but good)
• Send before deadline: 30 September, 2025
