About ASDEPO
Established in 2014, ASDEPO is an Ethiopian civil society organization committed to humanitarian response, education, health, economic empowerment, gender-based violence and child protection, migration/human trafficking, WASH, climate change, agriculture, and environmental protection across various regional states.
Job Purpose
The Project Coordinator will provide technical leadership to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) officers, mobilizing resources and ensuring high standards in the implementation of protection and GBV-funded projects. This includes leading GBV and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) activities, building staff capacity, providing technical support, conducting supervision visits, and facilitating training. The position is based in Gimbi, with travel required to project Woredas.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement GBV prevention and response activities.
- Ensure high-quality case management and psychosocial support.
- Assess training needs for national partners and staff on GBV and protection, developing capacity-building plans.
- Provide technical guidance on GBV and protection issues.
- Review monthly data and provide feedback to project managers.
- Ensure accurate reporting and adherence to ASDEPO procedures.
- Support the development of feedback systems and adapt programs as needed.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance GBV and protection services.
- Ensure effective referral pathways for GBV and protection cases.
- Facilitate coordination meetings and monitor referral pathways.
- Ensure gender and protection mainstreaming in all activities.
- Build and maintain partnerships with project partners and donors.
- Participate in proposal development and report writing.
Representation and Coordination
- Represent ASDEPO in relevant cluster coordination and working group meetings.
- Communicate ASDEPO’s mandate effectively to stakeholders.
Child Safeguarding
This role involves direct contact with children and requires adherence to ASDEPO’s Child Safeguarding Policy and awareness of prevention, reporting, and response protocols.

Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and ensure gender equity in staffing and programming.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or Gender and Development.
- Experience as a GBV Coordinator/Manager in NGO settings, particularly in emergencies.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in implementing GBV and protection projects.
- Proven skills in capacity building, writing, communication, and resource mobilization.
- Understanding of local civil society development.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in spoken and written Amharic and English; knowledge of Afan Oromo is a plus.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated sensitivity in diverse settings.
- Knowledge of international protection and GBV standards.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing environments.
- Willingness to travel within and outside the field.
- High integrity and strong report-writing skills.
