Job Summary

The Accelerated Education Program (AEP) Officer will oversee and coordinate the implementation of the AEP at hosting schools. Collaborating with parents, school communities, and local education authorities, this role entails program planning, execution, follow-up, and progress review. The AEP Officer will identify overaged out-of-school children (ages 10-14) and support their enrollment in a learner-centered education program designed to help them achieve competencies equivalent to Grades 1-3 within a ten-month curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

Program Coordination (35%)

  • Lead outreach and enrollment efforts for overaged out-of-school children, focusing on marginalized groups (e.g., girls, children with disabilities).
  • Manage daily AEP operations across learning centers, ensuring adherence to the accelerated curriculum.
  • Supervise facilitators and ensure quality instruction aligned with educational standards.
  • Foster collaboration among facilitators, supervisors, local education offices, and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs).
  • Develop and monitor workplans to align activities with project goals, ensuring timely delivery.

Capacity Building (20%)

  • Organize Training of Trainers (ToT) for facilitators and community staff on accelerated education and child protection.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and support to enhance instructional quality.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for local authorities to ensure program sustainability.

Learning Environment (15%)

  • Oversee the renovation and furnishing of learning spaces with appropriate materials.
  • Coordinate the distribution of learning supplies and meals to remove barriers to attendance.
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to address quality and safety concerns in learning environments.

Monitoring and Assessment (15%)

  • Track learner attendance and progress through assessments at key milestones.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and provide necessary support for individual learners.
  • Maintain accurate records for reporting and continuous improvement.

Reporting and Accountability (10%)

  • Develop systems to capture and report key activities and outcomes.
  • Submit timely progress reports to highlight achievements and challenges.
  • Facilitate communication with stakeholders to ensure transparency.

Other Duties (5%)

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the program’s success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in managing development projects, with at least three years in education project implementation.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accelerated or alternative education approaches.
  • Excellent coordination, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in local languages.

Travel Requirements

  • Frequent field travel (up to 50%) to provide on-site support.

Working Conditions

  • Field visits to various learning centers, including rural and resource-limited settings.
