Overall Purpose of the Role

The Roving Country Finance Manager ensures the financial health of the organization, fosters strong donor relationships, and supports localization efforts while ensuring compliance with DRC procedures. The role contributes to developing country strategies and provides support to country operations by overseeing finance activities.

Key Responsibilities

People Management:

  • Lead and manage the finance team, including performance and staff development.
  • Build capacity through training and mentoring.

Financial Management and Planning:

  • Oversee the finance department, ensuring compliance with DRC’s guidelines and donor requirements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of quality financial reports and maintain budgetary control across programs.
  • Liaise with managers on financial issues and prepare for audits.

Systems Improvement and Compliance:

  • Ensure effective use of DRC Dynamics and provide support to finance staff.
  • Implement internal controls and coordinate financial management training for non-finance staff.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Lead monthly reviews of project expenses and prepare ad hoc reports for senior management.
  • Develop a risk management plan and ensure accurate financial data entry.

Accounting:

  • Review financial data entries and manage payroll, invoices, and payments.
  • Prepare for financial audits and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; professional certification in accounting.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years in financial management, with at least 3 years in people management.
  • Skills: Strong financial management skills, proficiency in accounting software (preferably Microsoft Dynamics), and advanced Excel skills.
  • Languages: Professional proficiency in English; knowledge of other languages is a plus.

What We Offer

  • Contract: One year, with salary and conditions per DRC’s Terms of Employment.
  • Availability: October 2025.
  • Duty Station: Nairobi, with frequent visits to Addis Ababa.
