The Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Institute (formerly the Agricultural Transformation Agency) aims to accelerate the growth of Ethiopia’s agriculture sector, a key contributor to the nation’s economy. Our focus is on enhancing the livelihoods of smallholder farmers through innovative policies, technical support, and capacity building.

Position Summary

As the Project Team Lead, you will spearhead the digital transformation of Ethiopia’s agricultural landscape, specifically through the implementation of the Digital Agriculture Roadmap (DAR) and the Ethiopian Digital Agriculture Extension and Advisory Services (DAEAS) 2030 Roadmap. Your leadership will focus on two main initiatives: developing a comprehensive database of farmer profiles and executing a digital kiosk project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Oversee the DAR Enabling Initiatives and Agristack project, ensuring timely and budget-compliant deliverables. Manage project planning, budgeting, reporting, and evaluation.
  • Strategic Guidance: Provide direction for farmer profiling and digital kiosk projects, ensuring alignment with DAEAS 2030 and DAR goals.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor project officers, data enumerators, and statisticians, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Manage relationships with government bodies, donors, implementation partners, and the private sector to enhance project outcomes.
  • Data System Oversight: Supervise the design and implementation of data systems for the farmer profile database and manage digital kiosk operations.
  • Reporting: Produce high-quality reports and communication materials, keeping all stakeholders informed and engaged.
  • Problem Resolution: Act as the main contact for operational challenges, proactively identifying risks and proposing solutions.
  • Additional Contributions: Participate in broader technology and digital innovation initiatives as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Master’s degree in project management, statistics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in project management, with at least 4 years in a leadership role. Proven background in digital tools implementation, preferably in agriculture.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills in English and Amharic (knowledge of other local languages is a plus), and a self-driven approach to work.
  • Travel: Candidates must be willing to travel throughout Ethiopia as needed.
