About the Organization

ECC‑SDCBOM is a faith-based NGO delivering social development programs in the Vicariate of Meki. As a consortium partner, ECC‑SDCBOM is implementing the Realizing Aspirations of Youth in Ethiopia Through Employment (RAYEE II) program—funded by the MasterCard Foundation and led by SNV. This five‑year initiative promotes youth employment, enterprise growth, and inclusive economic opportunities across Oromia and Central Ethiopia regions.

Position Summary

The Senior Agribusiness – Livestock Officer will lead livestock sector and agribusiness development interventions, with a focus on poultry, dairy, shoat, and related value chains. The role emphasizes practical facilitation, enterprise support, and systemic market linkages to strengthen youth-led MSEs, particularly those led by rural women. The Officer will work closely with cooperatives, unions, private sector actors, and local government partners to deliver sustainable employment and income outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Value Chain Implementation: Lead the rollout of livestock value chain and market system interventions, ensuring activities address local constraints identified through market analyses.
  • Youth Enterprise Growth: Map youth-led MSEs in livestock/agribusiness and design strategies to support their growth, diversification, and job creation. Provide business skills and value‑addition training.
  • Partnerships & Systems Strengthening: Facilitate relationships between youth enterprises and market actors (aggregators, processors, traders, cooperatives, unions) to promote sustainable market linkages.
  • Capacity Building: Deliver coaching, mentoring, and technical support to cluster technical teams, youth groups, and local stakeholders.
  • Monitoring & Learning: Track activity progress against work plans, document lessons learned, and share case studies and innovations with the national technical team.

About You

Qualifications:

  • MSc/MA or BSc/BA in Livestock Development, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Marketing/Economics, or related fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years relevant experience (MSc/MA holders) or 10 years (BSc/BA holders) in livestock/agricultural value chain development and agribusiness, with proven success in direct field-level implementation.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong market analysis and business planning skills.
  • Knowledge of livestock production policies, trade regulations, and market trends.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, Excel financial modeling, GIS mapping).
  • Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) skills to track agribusiness impact.
  • Effective stakeholder coordination with government, private sector, and farmer cooperatives.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
  • Strong commitment to field-based work with resilience and adaptability.
  • Effective communication in English and local languages.
  • NGO experience preferred.
