About the Role
The Driver will provide safe and reliable transportation for GOAL Ethiopia staff, goods, and services within and outside the program area. This role is key to ensuring staff mobility, the timely delivery of supplies, and adherence to organizational safety and compliance standards.
You will report directly to the Logistics and Amhara Admin Officer and will be expected to comply with GOAL’s driving policies and security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Operations
- Safely operate GOAL vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and organizational driving policies.
- Maintain assigned vehicles in clean and roadworthy condition.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks (fuel, tyres, emergency kits).
- Record all trips, mileage, and fuel usage in the vehicle logbook.
Safety & Security
- Ensure passengers wear seatbelts at all times.
- Plan routes with consideration for safety and security (no unauthorized night driving).
- Report incidents, accidents, or security concerns immediately.
- Carry required communication tools and safety kits on all trips.
Logistics & Transport
- Support delivery of goods by signing and collecting delivery documents.
- Collaborate with logistics staff to ensure accurate vehicle and stock movement records.
- Return vehicles to the compound on time after trips.
Administration
- Submit receipts and records for fuel and trip-related expenses.
- Keep a valid driving license at all times.
- Follow GOAL’s driver policy, including alcohol and drug-free requirements.
- Assist with basic vehicle maintenance and report mechanical issues promptly.
About You
Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- Certificate in Driving/Mechanics.
- Minimum of 3 years’ professional driving experience.
- Valid driving license for relevant vehicle categories.
- Experience driving 4×4 vehicles in rural/field settings.
- Basic mechanical knowledge; ability to use a winch.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
