Project Overview
As a consortium partner in a program led by SNV and funded by the Mastercard Foundation, PADet is set to implement a flagship initiative aimed at enabling 112,000 rural young women to access dignified employment in Eastern Amhara. The program prioritizes high-potential agricultural value chains, including livestock, poultry, and dairy, through a market systems development approach.
Position Summary
The Agribusiness Advisor will lead the implementation of livestock sector and agribusiness development activities at the cluster level. This role emphasizes market linkages, enterprise growth, and supporting rural young women and men. The advisor will collaborate with local partners to ensure effective execution of activities that drive meaningful income and employment opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Market and Value Chain Interventions
- Lead the operationalization of livestock value chain activities tailored to local contexts.
- Conduct assessments to identify agribusiness opportunities for rural young women.
- Design and implement market-based intervention strategies to enhance productivity and income.
2. Youth Enterprise Growth
- Map existing youth-led micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in livestock and create strategies for growth.
- Provide capacity-building support on business skills and market requirements.
3. Partnership Strengthening
- Collaborate with local private sector actors, cooperatives, and unions to foster business relationships.
- Facilitate multi-stakeholder forums to address systemic challenges in the livestock sector.
4. Capacity Building and Technical Support
- Offer coaching and hands-on support to local stakeholders on market systems and business development.
- Organize practical demonstrations to encourage the adoption of best practices.
5. Monitoring and Learning
- Track implementation progress against work plans, ensuring alignment with income and employment targets.
- Document lessons learned and innovations, sharing insights with the national technical team.
6. Representation and Networking
- Represent PADet in local livestock and agribusiness forums, building networks with stakeholders.
- Ensure gender and climate considerations are integrated into livestock interventions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Livestock Development, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years in livestock/agricultural value chain development, with practical experience in rural youth and women’s programming.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of market systems and livestock trade dynamics.
- Proficiency in project formulation, implementation, and evaluation.
- Experience in facilitating partnerships and stakeholder engagement.

- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel frequently.
