Project Background

PADet is partnering with SNV and Mastercard Foundation to implement a program focused on enabling 112,000 rural young women to access dignified jobs in the Eastern Amhara region. The program targets high-potential agricultural value chains like horticulture, poultry, and dairy, using a market systems development approach

Job Summary

TThe Agribusiness Advisor will implement interventions in horticulture and crop value chains at the cluster level. The role focuses on unlocking local agribusiness opportunities, facilitating market linkages, and supporting youth-led enterprise growth. The advisor will work with rural young people, youth-led enterprises, community structures, private sector actors, cooperatives, and local government to achieve tangible results

Responsibilities

  • Direct Implementation of Horticulture/Crop Value Chain Activities: Lead the implementation of horticulture/crop value chain and market system activities, tailoring interventions to the local context.Contribute to annual, quarterly, and monthly planning and reporting .
  • Enterprise Growth & Market Linkages: Identify and map existing youth-led micro and small enterprises (MSEs) and design strategies to help these businesses expand and employ more young women. Facilitate business linkages for young women-led enterprises with suppliers, buyers, processors, and service providers .
  • Capacity Building & Field-level Support: Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical support to rural young people and MSEs. Organize demonstrations, training sessions, and workshops
  • Stakeholder Coordination & Multi-Stakeholder Platforms: Organize cluster-level multi-stakeholder meetings to identify challenges and build solutions. Build relationships with private sector actors, cooperatives, and local government
  • Monitoring, Learning & Adaptive Management: Monitor progress against work plans and contribute to income and employment targets. Document lessons learned and support cluster-level contributions to reviews and reporting . Ensure interventions address gender disparities and enhance climate resilience

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s/BA degree in agriculture development, Horticulture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Economics, or a related field .
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in horticulture/crop value chain development and agribusiness, with demonstrated success in field-level implementation
  • Experience in youth employment, market system development, local input/output market dynamics, and supporting rural women in enterprise growth
  • Familiarity with local, national, and regional horticulture trade systems and the policy environment
  • Experience organizing multi-stakeholder forums and working with sectoral association
  • Understanding of gender integration and climate-smart agriculture programmin
  • Fluency in English
