About the Project
IPHC-E is implementing the project “Technical Assistance to the Establishment of Model Woredas for Seqota Declaration in Ethiopia”, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and with funding support from Big Win Philanthropy.
The goal of this initiative is to accelerate the reduction of childhood stunting by integrating and strengthening key community-based interventions, including:
- Community Nutrition Labs
- Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP)
- Yelemat Turufat (Community Champions)
By establishing model woredas as “lighthouses” of excellence, the project aims to generate scalable, evidence-based approaches to improve child nutrition outcomes across Ethiopia.
Position Overview: Data Collector (Rapid Assessment)
IPHC-E is seeking 35 experienced data collectors to support a rapid assessment across 35 project woredas (21 in Oromia, 4 in Sidama, and 10 in Central Ethiopia Regions). The assessment will gather both quantitative and qualitative data from selected kebeles, woredas, and regional levels to inform project design, implementation, and performance tracking.
Data collectors will be responsible for collecting high-quality, reliable data in their assigned locations under the supervision of assessment team leads.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in a two-day training on data collection tools, protocols, and ethical standards.
- Conduct field data collection using structured tools in assigned woredas and kebeles.
- Collect qualitative data through interviews, focus group discussions, or key informant interviews as required.
- Accurately transcribe and translate qualitative data into English and submit within agreed timelines.
- Submit both paper-based and digital data in the required format during and after data collection.
- Incorporate feedback and guidance from supervisors and project staff throughout the process.
- Prepare and submit a brief field report summarizing key observations and challenges at the end of the assignment.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the rapid assessment supervisor or project team.

Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Social Sciences, or a related field
- Prior experience in data collection for health, nutrition, or development projects
- Familiarity with mobile data collection tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, Open Data Kit)
- Fluency in local languages and Amharic; proficiency in English (reading/writing)
- Previous involvement in rapid assessments or baseline surveys
