📌 Job Purpose: IT Operations Assistant – Digital Assistance Services (DAS)
Provided that the IT Operations Associate is acting as the Head of Field Office and the technical supervisor, the IT Operations Assistant (DAS) will be responsible for assisting with the launch, implementation, and subsequent maintenance of the Digital Assistance Services (DAS) in Dollo Ado, which is the main hub of the humanitarian work in the Somali Region, Ethiopia.
This position is crucial for making sure that digital tools and systems are properly utilized to provide timely, trusted, and safe aid to vulnerable groups such as refugees, as well as local communities.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Support DAS Implementation: Assist throughout the entire process of Digital Assistance Services, which involves the installation, operation, and solving of problems of digital distribution systems. Support the use of corporate platforms such as SCOPE, School Connect, Partner Connect, Easy Vista, PIT, LESS, and CFM.
- The process of Digital Assistance Services encompasses the installation, deployment, and troubleshooting of the digital distribution system.
- Provide assistance in utilizing corporate platforms like SCOPE, School Connect, Partner Connect, Easy Vista, PIT, LESS, and CFM.
- Field Operations & Technical Support: Carry out technical evaluations in the distances of the field. Lead the procedures of the digital beneficiary registration and verification. Provide the necessary technical help to the field teams on the spot and to the partners.
- Conduct technical evaluations at various locations in the field.

- Training & Capacity Building: Train WFP and its partners on the usage of the DAS tools. Offer your assistance in the management of knowledge and in the collection of good practice documentation.

- System Maintenance & Monitoring: Operate, set up, and keep in good condition the DAS devices (tablets, biometric devices, routers, etc.). Watch and give help to the GDT (Global Digital Transfer) system in the refugee camps. Move along with the system while upgrading it, applying patches, and making it run better.

Education:
- A secondary school certificate is needed.
- Information technology, computer science, business management, economics, or a related field are the areas in which having a university degree is highly appreciated.
Experience:
- A journey of 5 years or more with increasing responsibility in:ICT operations and supportTechnology implementation in humanitarian or development settings End-user support and team coordination

- Giving evidence of your work in deploying and supporting digital assistance platforms (e.g., SCOPE, biometric systems, mobile data collection).
- Your familiarity with field-based humanitarian operations, particularly in refugee or displacement contexts, is a significant asset.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of digital and ICT systems, including hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
- Troubleshooting IT problems and giving timely solutions is a skill/habit that one is good at.
- Experience managing end-user support teams and coordinating field-level IT activities.
- You must possess the ability to assess business requirements and recommend appropriate digital tools.
Language:
- You must be fluent in both written and spoken English and Somali.
- The knowledge of Amharic or Afan Oromo
