The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is seeking a National Agriculture Coordination and Liaison Specialist to support the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) in Ethiopia.
This role will assist the Chair of the Disaster Risk Management Agriculture Task Force (DRM-ATF) in coordinating agriculture sector response and preparedness efforts.
Responsibilities:
- · Represent MoA in leading the DRM-ATF, ensuring inclusion of key partners, agenda setting, follow-up on action points, and alignment with MoA strategic plans
- · Lead needs assessments, surveys (seasonal, rapid, EFSA, CFSAM), data review, and information dissemination to partners
- · Contribute to contingency planning, emergency preparedness, and response planning
- · Prepare reports, bulletins, analyses, publications, and situational reports for the agriculture sector
- · Identify capacity gaps and provide training opportunities to DRM-ATF partners
- · Lead technical working groups on crops, livestock, monitoring and analysis
- · Share MoA intervention data to enable complete response monitoring
- · Assist in revising regional DRM-ATF roadmaps aligned with current context
- · Manage coordination and assessment Letters of Agreement with Regional Agriculture Bureaus
- · Contribute to developing appropriate response packages for sustained food security impact
- · Support linking emergency response with resilience/rehabilitation and DRM initiatives
- · Represent DRM-ATF Chair in strategic advisory group meetings
- · Represent MoA in coordination platforms and communicate sector plans, priorities and issues
- · Conduct support missions to regional DRM-ATFs to strengthen sub-national coordination
- · Other duties as assigned by the DRM-ATF Chair
Requirements:
- · Ethiopian national
- · Advanced university degree in food security, agriculture, economics, humanitarian affairs or related field
- · Minimum 7 years of professional humanitarian response experience at mid/senior level in food security
- · Fluency in English and local language(s)
- · Strategic and operational planning abilities
- · Understanding of humanitarian architecture, principles, coordination and funding mechanisms
- · Strong communication, presentation, and workshop facilitation skills
- · Leadership in sector assessments, surveys, monitoring and evaluation
- · Ability to build productive partnerships and work in fragile environments
- · This is a 6-month contract based in Addis Ababa with possibility of extension. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
