Job Summary:
The Financial Inclusion and Livelihood Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing the “She Thrives” project’s child labor activities, with a focus on promoting sustainable livelihoods and economic strengthening interventions. The specialist will work closely with community members, partners, and stakeholders to identify underlying causes of livelihood deterioration and asset depletion and develop solutions to address them. Additionally, the specialist will provide leadership, coordination, coaching, and supervision to community facilitators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and engage with communities to identify livelihood challenges and solutions
- Develop technical approaches, implementation strategies, and action plans for livelihood and economic strengthening interventions
- Ensure effective planning and integration of livelihood and financial inclusion activities at all levels
- Identify and promote innovative programming approaches to achieve project objectives
- Lead and coordinate the livelihood and financial inclusion component of the project
- Facilitate capacity-building trainings for saving groups, asset creation groups, and community promoters/animators
- Develop strategies and methodologies for promoting savings and asset creation
- Ensure market linkage interventions are appropriately implemented and utilized
- Monitor progress, provide feedback, and propose adjustments to implementation plans
- Guide field activities related to market-driven approaches, financial services, and business development
- Facilitate linkages between target households, TVETs, and MFIs for livelihood pathways
- Ensure adherence to VSLA/AY/SLA minimum standards and support income-generating activities
- Develop capacity-building plans and training materials in collaboration with partners
- Organize technical support and identify specialized expertise for sub-grantees
- Establish and maintain relationships with government offices, NGOs, expert institutions, and the private sector
- Contribute to relevant meetings, workshops, and experience-sharing initiatives
- Prepare high-quality reports on project progress, lessons learned, and best practices
- Communicate CARE’s Household Livelihood Security approach effectively
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Rural Development, Business, or related fields
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in economic development within the livelihoods security framework in rural areas
- Experience in capacity-building initiatives and partnership management
- Practical experience in facilitating business organizations and financial service providers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Afan-Oromo
- Strong organizational skills and ability to coach staff and partners
- Solid knowledge of livelihood impact indicators
- Commitment to gender equity, women’s empowerment, diversity, and inclusion
