About the Role

UNDP is hiring a Strategic Governance Specialist to provide high-level technical advisory and support across its governance portfolio in Ethiopia. This includes dividing time between the Enabling Democratic Governance in Ethiopia (EDGE) and Supporting Elections for Ethiopia’s Democracy Strengthening (SEEDS 2) projects.

The core responsibilities include:

  • Provide policy advice and capacity development to the government on governance issues
  • Contribute expertise to project management, planning, risk mitigation and achievement of results
  • Coordinate strategic partnerships and support resource mobilization efforts
  • Oversee research/analysis and develop substantive technical reports/documentation
  • Manage communication, visibility and knowledge sharing for the governance projects
  • Represent UNDP in UN working groups related to governance and democratization

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Governance, Law, Political Science, Public Policy or related fields OR Bachelor’s degree with 2 additional years of experience
  • 7-9 years of relevant experience in governance and elections, working with governments/development partners
  • Expertise in areas like governance project support, capacity building, policy advice, assessments and M&E
  • Proven skills in strategic thinking, results-based management and partnerships
  • Knowledge of e-governance, civic engagement, and system/strategic thinking
  • Excellent communication abilities and proficiency in English (additional UN language an asset)
