Work Context:
CESVI is a secular and independent humanitarian organization, founded in Bergamo, Italy in 1985. CESVI works in 23 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe, supporting the most vulnerable populations in the promotion of human rights, the achievement of their aspirations, for sustainable development, and in response to the most severe emergencies.

CESVI has been working in Ethiopia since 2018, initially in refugee camps in Tigray and with pastoralist communities in Oromia. In 2022, CESVI expanded its operations to Amhara, Harar, Dire Dawa, and Beninshangul-Gumuz. In May 2023, CESVI will start a new project in the Borena region of Oromia, focusing on the humanitarian-development-peace nexus.

Job Description:
CESVI is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Officer to join our team. The HR Officer will play a crucial role in supporting various HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and a passion for fostering a positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment Support: Assist in job posting creation and distribution, coordinate interview schedules, conduct initial screening of resumes and applications, and support the coordination of recruitment events.
  • Onboarding and Orientation: Coordinate new hire paperwork, schedule and facilitate new hire orientations, and assist in the development and maintenance of onboarding materials.
  • Employee Relations: Provide support in resolving employee inquiries and issues, assist in conducting investigations into employee complaints or concerns, and maintain employee records.
  • HR Administrative Support: Maintain HR databases and systems, generate HR reports and metrics, assist in organizing HR-related meetings and events, and support other HR projects and initiatives.
  • Other Tasks: Prepare contracts, update the HR manual, supervise the implementation of HR procedures, assist with expat staff documentation, and ensure regular filing of timesheets.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of experience in HR or related administrative roles.
  • Knowledge of HR practices and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in working with international NGOs.
