Project Description
The USAID/Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture project aims to enhance access to nutritious diets, especially for women and children, while improving the competitiveness and resilience of Ethiopia’s food and agriculture system. The initiative seeks to increase agricultural incomes by 40% over the next five years through collaboration with other USAID-funded projects.
Responsibilities
As the Crop Market Systems Officer, you will assist in designing and implementing crop and horticulture interventions in the Hawassa region. Your primary responsibilities include:
Designing and monitoring program activities to enhance horticulture and crop quality for vulnerable populations.
Overseeing regional grantees and subcontractors.
Ensuring timely project implementation and monitoring for quality.
Providing technical guidance and serving as a subject matter expert.
Supporting the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team with real-time data collection on crop and horticulture value chains.
Liaising with stakeholders, including government and donor programs, in the crop and horticulture sectors.
Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
Education: Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Strong preference for demonstrated experience in economic growth, value chain development, or agricultural development programs.
Skills:
Proven experience in crop and horticulture interventions.
Ability to work under pressure with multiple demands.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required; regional language proficiency is preferred.
Willingness to travel and work in challenging conditions throughout Ethiopia.
