Project Description
The USAID/Ethiopia Transforming Agriculture project aims to enhance access to nutritious diets for women and children while improving the competitiveness and resilience of Ethiopia’s food and agriculture system. The project targets a 40% increase in agricultural incomes over the next five years by collaborating with other USAID-funded initiatives.
Responsibilities
As the Warehouse Officer, you will manage the Addis Ababa office’s warehouses and oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of supplies and materials. Your key responsibilities include:
- Inspecting incoming materials and reconciling them with purchase orders.
- Maintaining secure store records (Ledger, Release, Waybill, Delivery Books).
- Reporting any irregularities in the warehouse to your supervisor.
- Assisting with loading and unloading goods.
- Conducting stock-taking exercises.
- Ensuring the warehouse is clean and goods are well organized for easy access.
- Issuing goods following established regulations (first in, first out).
- Maintaining updated records of stored items (bin cards, ledgers).
- Verifying that received items meet required standards (packaging, expiry dates).
- Reporting minimum stock levels for reordering.
- Keeping the warehouse and storage areas orderly.
- Ensuring security and reporting any issues (e.g., pests, leaks).
- Conducting regular physical stock counts and generating monthly inventory reports.
- Performing other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Education: Master’s degree in management, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field with 3 years of experience; or a Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: At least 3 years working on a USAID project is desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong financial and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
- Willingness to travel and work in challenging conditions across Ethiopia.
- Knowledge of material handling procedures, inventory control, and safety precautions.
- Ability to operate a computerized inventory system and perform basic arithmetic.
