Overview

Join NRC as the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Manager and play a pivotal role in shaping our approach to monitoring and evaluation in Ethiopia.

About the Role

The MEL Manager will lead the strategic direction and quality assurance for monitoring and evaluation at the Ethiopia Country Office. This includes designing and implementing strategies, policies, and procedures, as well as managing the budget for MEL activities. The role aims to generate valuable insights that inform programming and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development: Create a comprehensive MEL strategy that aligns with NRC’s regional and global frameworks while addressing local challenges.
  • SOP Development: Establish context-specific MEL Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in line with NRC’s minimum standards and ensure necessary resources are allocated.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide methodological guidance for program monitoring and evaluation plans and assist in resource planning.
  • Implementation: Oversee the rollout of global and regional MEL initiatives, adapting them to local needs.
  • Capacity Building: Offer technical support and training to MEL staff at the Country Office and area offices.

Qualifications

  • Education: BA/MA/MSc in Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years in an international NGO, ideally in emergency or post-conflict settings.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in data collection, analysis, and research methodologies.
  • Software Proficiency: Strong command of MS Excel and experience with data collection tools (e.g., ODK, Kobo Toolbox), data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, STATA), and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Communication: Ability to present data clearly and identify trends.

What We Offer

  • Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
  • Contract Duration: 12 months (renewable based on funding and performance)
  • Travel Requirements: 30%
  • Salary: Grade 9 on NRC’s national salary scale with accompanying benefits.
