Who are we?
Present in Ethiopia since 1988, Inter Aide is involved in the design and implementation of rural development projects, mainly in the following areas:
- Access to water, sanitation and hygiene and support for the development of public water services (8 programs);
- Support for family farming (three programs, including a major program for intensifying soil and water conservation activities);
These programs are mainly implemented in two new regions of Ethiopia (central and southern Ethiopia).
The project related to this mission aims to “improve the resilience of farming families and preserve mountainous areas in southern Ethiopia through capacity building at the local level”. More specifically, for the Agriculture component, the project aims to help small farmers protect their farms from water erosion by applying soil and water conservation measures, while increasing their forage production.
The mission:
You will be responsible for guiding the overall monitoring and evaluation strategy within the project and with partners. You will provide support to the project team and the coordinator in implementing the project:
Your main responsibilities are:
- Setting up a monitoring system: revising the existing monitoring mechanism, standardizing processes, developing the overall framework for project monitoring, clarifying and identifying essential training needs.
- Supporting the monitoring and evaluation team: gradually facilitating the transfer of monitoring capacity; supporting the gradual transfer of data reporting within the government; supporting the creation of monitoring capacity within the Ethiopian government; supporting the design, implementation and analysis of sample-based surveys; guiding staff and partners in preparing their progress reports.
- Providing ad hoc support to teams in organizing and formalizing project activities; helping to structure all stakeholders from families to local authorities to enable them to implement actions; supporting these structures in setting up decision-making processes based on reported data, training teams.
- Supporting communication and advocacy to disseminate the project’s innovative activities: Supporting the documentation of best practices, results and impacts of the intervention; designing and publishing various presentation documents.
- Supporting the training process for project stakeholders ranging from government staff to farmers, using peer-to-peer training methods. Supporting the design of the module for each peer-to-peer training with the operational team.
Profile:
- You have training in rural development, project monitoring and evaluation or agriculture;
- You are fluent in English (minimum C1 level);
- You are proficient in Excel;
- You have practical experience in operating, managing or organizing rural development projects;
- You have practical experience in monitoring and evaluating agricultural projects;
- You have strong formalization skills and experience in developing training modules;
- You are dynamic, autonomous and proactive.
Conditions:
24-month renewable VSI mission
Monthly allowance of €1,400 + field allowances
Full social coverage (CFE + health insurance) and repatriation insurance
One round-trip air ticket at the beginning and end of the mission from home to the mission site + one annual round-trip air ticket from the mission site to Inter Aide’s headquarters.
