About the Organization

ECC‑SDCBOM is a faith-based NGO implementing social development programs in the Vicariate of Meki. As a consortium partner, ECC‑SDCBOM is delivering the Realizing Aspirations of Youth in Ethiopia Through Employment (RAYEE II) program, funded by the MasterCard Foundation and led by SNV. The program aims to empower rural youth, especially young women and persons with disabilities, by expanding access to employment, enterprise, and skills development opportunities across Oromia and Central Ethiopia regions.

Position Summary

The Senior Youth Engagement & Inclusion Officer will lead the design and implementation of strategies that ensure meaningful participation of marginalized groups—particularly rural young women (RYW), persons with disabilities, and returnees. The Officer will work closely with local institutions, TVETs, OSSCs, and youth platforms to reduce barriers, promote inclusion, and amplify youth voices in decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement inclusive outreach strategies to ensure effective targeting, registration, and engagement of RYW, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized youth.
  • Identify systemic, social, and cultural barriers to youth inclusion and design context-specific solutions.
  • Facilitate access to assistive devices, reasonable accommodations, and accessible training venues to support persons with disabilities.
  • Strengthen youth voice platforms such as Youth Advisory Groups (YAGs) and youth associations, ensuring diverse youth participation in planning, decision-making, and feedback.
  • Foster partnerships with local government agencies, TVETs, OSSCs, CBOs, and disability-focused organizations.
  • Monitor, document, and adapt inclusion strategies based on evidence and community feedback.
  • Ensure youth engagement activities are gender-responsive and disability-inclusive.

About You

Qualifications:

  • MSc/MA or BSc/BA in Youth Development, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Social Development, Sociology, or related fields.

Experience:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience (MSc/MA holders) or 10 years (BSc/BA holders), particularly in youth engagement, inclusion, and community-based programming, with a particular emphasis on rural youth and individuals with disabilities.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of youth rights, inclusion frameworks, and civic participation models.
  • Ability to develop youth-focused policies and advocacy strategies.
  • Expertise in Social and Behavior Change (SBC) approaches for youth empowerment.
  • Practical experience in disability mainstreaming and inclusive programming.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and partnership-building skills.
  • Strong documentation and report-writing abilities.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
  • Strong commitment to field-based work with resilience and adaptability.
  • Effective communication in English and local languages.
  • NGO experience preferred.

Compensation

  • Salary: Negotiable, commensurate with experience and organizational scale.
