About the Organization
ECC‑SDCBOM is a faith-based NGO engaged in social development across the Vicariate of Meki. As a consortium partner, we are implementing the Realizing Aspirations of Youth in Ethiopia Through Employment (RAYEE II) program, funded by the MasterCard Foundation and led by SNV. The program focuses on empowering rural youth, women, and persons with disabilities by enhancing access to employment and financial opportunities across Oromia and Central Ethiopia regions.
Position Summary
The Senior Financial Inclusion Officer will lead efforts to improve access to inclusive financial services for marginalized groups, including rural youth, women, and smallholder farmers. The role promotes financial literacy, access to credit, digital financial solutions, and enterprise development, ensuring equitable participation in formal financial systems. A key focus will be strengthening Youth Saving and Lending Associations (YSLAs) and building institutional linkages with MFIs, SACCOs, and banks to deliver youth-responsive financial products.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement the youth financial inclusion strategy at the cluster level, prioritizing rural young women, persons with disabilities, and returnees.
- Conduct localized assessments to identify barriers to financial access and propose tailored solutions.
- Partner with MFIs, SACCOs, RuSACCOs, and banks to establish sustainable linkages and deliver appropriate youth-focused financial services.
- Support the development of innovative financial products for youth startups and MSEs along priority value chains.
- Foster partnerships with digital service providers to introduce mobile banking, digital savings, and record-keeping tools.
- Identify capacity gaps among financial institutions and design practical training to strengthen youth-inclusive service delivery.
- Document lessons learned and share best practices with program stakeholders and national partners.
About You
Qualifications:
- MSc/MA or BSc/BA in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Cooperative Development, or related fields.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years relevant experience (MSc/MA holders) or 10 years (BSc/BA holders) in microfinance, rural finance, or youth/women financial inclusion work.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proven track record in youth/women financial inclusion.
- Strong experience working with MFIs, SACCOs, and banks.
- Knowledge of Ethiopia’s financial sector and digital financial services.
- Experience building capacity of local financial institutions and field-level staff.
- Excellent partnership management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong communication skills in English and local languages.
- NGO experience preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
- Commitment to field-based work, with resilience and adaptability.
