About the Organization
ECC‑SDCBOM is a faith-based NGO engaged in social development across the Vicariate of Meki. As a consortium partner, we are implementing the Realizing Aspirations of Youth in Ethiopia Through Employment (RAYEE II) program, funded by the MasterCard Foundation and led by SNV. The program focuses on expanding employment opportunities for rural young women (RYW) and persons with disabilities across Oromia and Central Ethiopia regions.
Position Summary
The Senior Youth Skill Development Officer will provide technical leadership in the design, coordination, and delivery of inclusive, gender-responsive, and market-relevant training interventions. This role focuses on strengthening local skills ecosystems, improving service quality, and embedding digital, entrepreneurial, and financial literacy training into community and institutional systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and rollout of youth skills development interventions aligned with program strategies.
- Oversee implementation of training packages (entrepreneurship, agribusiness, digital & financial literacy, value chain development) tailored for RYW and persons with disabilities.
- Ensure the quality and relevance of all training content, materials, and delivery approaches.
- Identify, assess, and partner with local training providers (A/TVETs, youth centers, OSSCs, universities, private institutions).
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce barriers for marginalized youth to access training.
- Integrate digital skills, entrepreneurship, and mentorship into woreda-level systems and community institutions.
- Collaborate with GESI and safeguarding advisors to ensure training is inclusive and responsive to diverse needs.
- Work with MEAL teams to monitor participation, completion, and outcomes of training programs.
About You
Qualifications:
- MSc/MA or BSc/BA in Education, Sociology, Psychology, Youth Development, Social Studies, or related fields.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years relevant experience (for MSc/MA holders) or 10 years (for BA/BSc holders), preferably in rural youth employment, skills development, or agricultural value chains.
Skills & Competencies:
- Curriculum Development: Capacity to design effective youth training and learning materials.
- Entrepreneurship & Business Development: Knowledge of startup incubation, financial literacy, and employment transition.
- Digital Skills: Familiarity with online training platforms, basic coding, or digital marketing for youth enterprises.
- Project Management: Ability to oversee multiple youth-focused initiatives.
- Psychosocial Support: Skills in counseling and youth engagement.
- Strong communication in English and local languages.
- NGO experience preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to travel frequently to project sites.
- Strong commitment to field-based work with resilience and adaptability.
