Are you ready to transform bold ideas into impactful actions? Join NRC Ethiopia as our Cash & Market Systems Specialist! You will lead innovative programs that enhance market systems for the communities we serve, focusing on Cash & Voucher Assistance and market-systems-based strategies.

Note: This is a resident contract. Applicants must be Ethiopian nationals with the legal right to live and work in Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

• Advocacy and Strategy: Lead internal advocacy efforts and build a shared understanding of Cash and Market Systems among country management and technical colleagues.
• Market Systems Analysis: Design interventions to address market dysfunctions affecting vulnerable populations, leveraging partnerships and co-investment opportunities.
• Program Design and Assessment: Conduct market assessments and develop evidence-based programs while identifying suitable technologies and tools.
• Capacity Building: Train and mentor program staff in cash and market systems to enhance NRC’s programming effectiveness.
• Pilot Programs: Refine market systems approaches and assess the use of mobile money in Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) interventions.
• Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish monitoring mechanisms, document lessons learned, and ensure compliance with program standards.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate interactions with key market system actors and support decision-making processes.
• Documentation and Reporting: Compile activity reports and liaise with donors and stakeholders for review and dissemination.

What You Will Bring

• Education: Master’s degree in Economics, International Development, Business Management, or a related field.
• Experience: 5-7 years in cash and market systems programming, with at least 3 years in a management role in humanitarian contexts.
• Skills: Strong strategic thinking, partnership building with the private sector, and multi-stakeholder engagement.
• Languages: Fluency in English and a local language; proficiency in more than one local language is preferred.
• Personal Attributes: Curiosity about market failures, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to inspire collaboration among diverse actors.

• Duty Station: Addis Ababa
• Contract Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extension.
• Travel: 30-40%
• Salary: Grade 9 on NRC’s Resident salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
