Mission and Objectives

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is dedicated to ensuring that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. Our strategic plan (2022-2025) focuses on three transformative results: ending preventable maternal deaths, addressing unmet needs for family planning, and eradicating gender-based violence and harmful practices. We aim to build a better future while recovering from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on women’s and girls’ reproductive health and rights.

Context

The UN Volunteer will support the UNFPA Country Office in integrating livelihood and entrepreneurship interventions within Gender and Social Norms programs. Collaborating closely with the Country Office and relevant thematic units, the Volunteer will help develop a comprehensive livelihood strategy and support the design and implementation of programs that embed livelihood components within GBV, harmful practices, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of Livelihood Activities: Analyze social and economic trends to provide high-quality inputs for the formulation and implementation of integrated livelihood and economic inclusion initiatives.
  • Work Plan Development: Create realistic, results-oriented annual work plans for livelihood interventions aligned with UNFPA’s strategic priorities.
  • Project Design: Contribute to the design of high-quality livelihood and entrepreneurship projects, integrating best practices and establishing clear monitoring mechanisms.
  • Advocacy and Resource Mobilization: Develop evidence-based materials that showcase the impact of livelihood initiatives and support resource mobilization efforts.
  • Support Innovation: Assist the innovation team in creating youth-friendly, technology-driven solutions for SRHR and GBV, focusing on sustainable financing.
  • Program Integration: Promote the integration of entrepreneurship components into SRHR, GBV, and Youth, Peace and Security programs through strategic planning.
  • Youth Engagement: Strengthen youth leadership and ensure meaningful participation in UNFPA programs through inclusive engagement and capacity-building efforts.
