Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Economic Recovery Coordinator to provide strategic guidance and technical leadership across our Economic Recovery portfolio in Ethiopia. This role will focus on enhancing the self-reliance of vulnerable populations through financial inclusion, climate-smart recovery, and innovative livelihoods solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development
- Lead the implementation of DRC’s Economic Recovery Sector Strategy, focusing on self-reliance for affected populations.
- Monitor the context in Ethiopia and identify opportunities for innovative programming.
- Design strategies to expand access to financial services for underserved communities, including women and youth.
- Foster partnerships with private sector actors to promote inclusive economic growth.
Program Delivery and Technical Support
- Develop and standardize operating procedures for economic recovery programs.
- Conduct assessments and ensure quality in the implementation of economic recovery initiatives.
- Build partnerships with financial institutions and promote inclusive financial ecosystems.
- Lead the design of innovative financial products and support capacity building for technical staff.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Act as Project Focal Point for Economic Recovery projects, ensuring compliance with DRC standards.
- Facilitate monthly project review meetings and support risk management.
- Ensure that conflict-sensitivity and protection principles are integrated throughout programming.
Coordination and Representation
- Build effective relationships among team members, partners, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate with other sectors to ensure an integrated approach to programming.
- Represent DRC in relevant forums and working groups.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience in livelihoods, economic recovery, and cash assistance in fragile contexts.
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (e.g., Economics, Agribusiness, Business Management).
- Proven experience in designing innovative financing mechanisms and engaging with public sector stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of Ethiopia’s regulatory environment for financial services and economic inclusion.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration.
