Result of Service
Provide safe driving services to the OHCHR-EARO field office teams, other relevant stakeholders, and high-profile visitors with the highest standards of discretion, integrity, and responsibility.

Work Location: Addis Ababa

Expected Duration: 15 Oct – 14 Apr 2025

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Transport UNOHCHR and other UN visitors or officials, applying appropriate protocols
  • Deliver and collect mail and documents, and perform other messenger responsibilities
  • Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport, and assist with visa and customs formality arrangements when required
  • Perform minor repairs and arrange for major repairs
  • Ensure timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
  • Maintain accurate daily vehicle logs, manage insurance renewal, annual vehicle inspection, license plate processes, and collect applicable fees
  • Provide inputs for vehicle maintenance plans and reports
  • Ensure steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident

Qualifications/Special Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Driver training with a valid driver’s license
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience as a driver with a safe driving record and a valid 3rd grade driving license
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience with UN and Humanitarian/Development NGOs as a driver, with knowledge of driving regulations, rules, and laws, and skills in minor vehicle repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge of protocols, courtesies, and security requirements is an advantage
  • Skills in vehicle maintenance, training/certificate on defensive driving, and computer literacy are advantages
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required
  • Fluency in the national language of the duty station is required, and fluency in the local language is desirable
